NTS Archive // East African Folk and Ghost Songs

Here’s a radio session we did for NTS under the guise of When I’m Walking, back in August. The theme was halloween songs from the ’40s and ’50s, with a scattering of east African folk recorded between 1938-46, and some other random stuff. The folk music from Kenya and Uganda I found on an awesome LP called Bellyachers, Listen, which you can get here on the excellent Honest Jon’s. This mix is best enjoyed from under a white sheet, or within many layers of rotting bandages, naturally.
