We’ve discovered lots of great new music over the past few days, spent happily trawling through the Dead Albatross Music Prize shortlist. One thing to instantly grab out attention was Euplexia by Katie English, aka Isnaj Dui. Katie weaves chilly, mantra-like soundscapes using flutes, home-made dulcimers and other weird sounds. “Duelol” even features an addictively warped, clicking beat, like someone swinging a pickaxe from deep within a mine. We recommend you pick up a copy of Euplexia, which comes with hand-printed artwork by Katie, before they all melt away. Also check out Yorkshire’s awesome Rural Colours label for more great ambience, drone and experimental folk music.
