Trimdon Garage Explosion

Guest Mix // Alison Cotton

We first heard the music of Alison Cotton on Michael Tanner’s Suite for Psaltery and Dulcimer, her viola soaring with a kind of latent bliss over rolling chalkhills and rivers. We since invited the pair to perform on NTS, and they obliged with a glacial rendition of Psaltery, together with a surprise vocal performance from Alison. We’ve since enjoyed exploring Alison’s work with psych-folk outfit The Left Outsides, and the hazy force of Trimdon Grange Explosion, who brought to mind Pigeons’ The Bower. There’s even a solo album in the works, produced and mixed by that man Michael Tanner. It’s fascinating to chart the inspiration for these myriad projects – and what better way to do so than through a mix by Alison herself. Dive in for 77 minutes of narcotic folk and psych.

Trimdon Grange Explosion’s excellent self-titled LP is out soon via Borley Rectory (artwork by Luke Drozd).
