Virtually unknown to Western ears, dentist-cum-protest singer Fikret Kızılok produced some of the best psych of the fruity ’70s Turkish scene. “Söyle Sazyım” is a crazy taxi ride of a song – careering and relentless and life-affirming, with dust on its shades, sweat in its pits and hooks on its hooks. This fascinating period of music (the “anatolian invasion”, as it is known to some) has been “respectfully plundered” by the likes of Finders Keepers and Nublu of late.
